Ensure That You Meet The Pet Sitter Personally

Before you go on holiday, you want the peace of mind which comes with knowing that you've left your pet in safe hands with someone who will look after it as well as you would yourself. 

Don't forget that the person you choose is also going to have access to your home so it's important that you feel at ease about that.

Does Your Pet Like The Sitter?

Meeting the pet sitter before agreeing a booking will give you the opportunity to see how your pet reacts with the sitter, and vice versa.  Your pet's animal instincts can tell you a lot!

Insurance

Ask if the sitter carries the right insurance (you are well within your rights to ask to see the Insurance Certificate).

Geography

There are benefits to choosing someone local:-

• the sitter doesn't have too far to travel to visit you and your pet
• you may well have knowledge about the sitter through other local people
• in inclement weather (such as snow, ice etc) it is easier for the sitter to reach the pet to look after it

Commitment

If providing pet sitting services is the person's main income, then it is more likely that they will be keen to ensure that you get exactly the service that you want.
